Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has a number of higher commercial customers: Mining Companies, Hotels, Hospitals and Government Organizations. The total electricity demand for these customers is as high as 10-25MVA. In order to cater for such large electricity demand, multiple electrical lines have to be brought to those customers. The energy being consumed and the total Maximum Demand would have to be measured and paid for in money equivalent. The special metering instrument used by ECG for these types of measurements is the Summation Current Transformer (SCT).
